I suppose my first suggestions would be the basics; dwarves, goblins, orcs. Other classics would be centaurs, dryads, sirens, harpies, gorgons, gnomes, halflings, ogres, giants, minotaurs, the loathsome hordes of the undead, and any form of lizardmen. Other than that I's suggest torrenting some DND books and give those a scan for ideas.
